We are very fortunate at OnCore to have amazing customers. Two military veterans, Billy Hunt and Scott Aughtry, are a testament to that statement. Both are battling their own challenges after being in the military service but have a common passion for golf. They are determined to continue improving their game, despite the obstacles they face, and we are here to support them.
Billy Hunt is competing in the Golfweek Amateur Tour down in Charlotte this week where he looks to improve off of his last two years, shooting a 104 and 106. Last week he played in Birmingham, Alabama where he shot an 81 while playing with our ELIXR ball. Billy used to golf 3-5 times a week shooting in the 70’s, but while serving in Iraq in 2007 he was hit with two IED’s, having to go through multiple operations and setting his golf game back. However, Billy has taken the time to write us claiming that OnCore’s ELIXR ball is a “game changer” and “has got [him] motivated to go back at it again”. Billy is looking to build off of that 81 in Birmingham and get back to form in Charlotte. Best of luck!
Scott Aughtry, a 33 year old Air Force veteran, was struck with a degenerative eye disease eight years ago and is now legally blind, but this has not stopped him from chasing his dreams in golf. Scott still maintains a 2.9 handicap, and it continues to trend down as his game improves. His list of accomplishments include being the 2013 and 2014 National Stroke play champion, 2014 National Match play Champion, 2014 World Blind Long Drive Champion, 2013 and 2015 Blind Ryder Cup Member, 2014 Disabled Ryder Cup Captain, the 2014 Disabled Ryder Cup Champion and the 2016 World Blind Stroke Play Champion.
On top of all of this success, Scott spends a majority of his summers devoting time to the junior golf programs in the area and to the Special Olympics Golf Team. Scott believes in OnCore Golf, saying OnCore has the “pizzazz, vision, and out of the box thinking” that will help take any golfer to the next level. We are excited to supply Scott with OnCore golf balls in order to help him play the game he loves and pursue his dreams. Thank you for inspiring us all.
