Tried the Elixir for the first time today. Didn't notice any difference in distance from my regular ball (Taylormade TP5). The Elixir spins a little more than the TP5. I was backing the ball up all day, even on less than full swings. I was impressed with that. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the cover doesn't seem quite as durable as the TP5. I'll be playing again in 3 days and see if I still have the durability issues.
After hearing long drive champion Ryan Steenberg praise the Elixr during a Golfwrx podcast I knew I had to give it a try. I’m a low single digit handicapper in my 50’s, and still manage pretty decent club head speed. The most important factors to me are feel around and on the greens without sacrificing distance. The Elixr delivers on all accounts, and is very durable. I haven’t gotten too far into the weeds with regards to comparing the distance versus other balls, most notably the Callaway Chrome Soft, which I also like. But I don’t think there’s much difference, if any. If you want a tour-caliber ball that delivers on the company’s claims, I wholeheartedly recommend you give this ball a try. Good golfing!
I've read good things about this ball. I'm not a natural skeptic but not ready to blindly accept what I read. Today's conditions were not ideal but given that it's February in the northeast, 40 degrees with a 14 MPH west wind and a course recovering from snow, ice and heavy rain 2 days ago..........I put the ELIXR in play. My first reaction was that it has a really good feel to it off the tee. Much like a PROV1 but not too hard or too soft. It was repeatable with comforting feedback. Distance was better than good although some of it could be attributable to a half frozen fairway. 3wood and #4 hybrid felt very solid. Iron shots were responsive. Distances might need to be adjusted as I found I hit most shots further than normal. Center face putts felt solid but lagging medium length putts will take some getting used to. All in all, a good first reaction. Looking forward to my next round.
Tried the free sleeve first. Found the ELIXR to feel good. Not hard. Not mushy. It appeared the spin into the greenw was very good. Better than other balls I've tried and I've tried almost all of them. Distance was good but didnt see appreciable gaining my driver length. So I got the 3 for 2 deal. Been playing a bit and. gotta say, I'm liking them! Gave sleeve to friend and he's seeing a pick up of few yards in driver distance. Remember we're over 65 so not the long knockers were.
Bottom line, good ball that I'll be playing. Just hope my friend gets his own!
