OnCore Golf, based in Buffalo, NY, is proud to announce its stature as title sponsor of the Western New York PGA section’s Doubles Golf league. Doubles Golf is a team competition, in which two golfers play a scramble format, and return one team score. Play will commence in 2020, within WNYPGA member clubs.
Steve Coulton, co-founder of OnCore Golf, elaborated on the company’s enthusiasm for the new leage: “We are excited to sponsor the WNY PGA Doubles Golf initiative because of the fun and inclusive style of play.”
No handicaps will be utilized in Doubles Golf. Teams will be sorted into A, B, and C flights, based on their scores. These flights will be fluid, and teams may move up and down with each score returned. At the end of the 2020 season, each participating club will identify champions in the different flights. Those partnerships will move on to the western New York championship.
It gets better. Imagine late fall in Jupiter, Florida. The winning area duos will compete in the national championship, in September of 2020. The event will take place at the Bear’s Club, the home club of league founder Jack Nicklaus.
