OnCore Ambassador: Nicholas Marchese
Nicholas Marchese is a PGA Professional and OnCore Ambassador. Check out his story below!
Growing up in Toronto, golf was not on the radar for most kids, it was pretty much always hockey. When I was growing up, I played every sport I could, but hockey was my main focus at the competitive level, it was my dream to play in the NHL. With all of the sports I played as a kid, it’s ironic looking back on it now that the one I didn’t like doing the most was when my parents put me in golf camp during the summers. My dad and grandfather loved golf and always wanted to go play in the summers, but I did not care for it enough to go with them because I thought golf was lame and I only wanted to focus on hockey.
As the years past and I got older, things changed. I suffered a career ending injury in hockey during the same time I lost my grandfather. I realized I could have spent more time with him by just going to the golf course with him. Because of my injury and his loss, I decided I was going to pick up golf when I was around 15 years old. I didn’t expect to go anywhere with it at all, but as I became obsessed with it and ended up becoming good enough to have the opportunity to play college golf. I learned so much about myself and golf during my time in college and also saw a massive improvement in my game and abilities, enough to the point where I was being told by players at the highest levels that I could compete with the best in the world.
I had a hard time believing it for a while, but recently I have been able to see it for myself that I can play and compete with the best in the world, which led to my decision to turn pro!
I am so thankful to be an OnCore Ambassador and be a part of their team during this journey. Their support has been more amazing than I ever could have imagined. I have been playing the OnCore ball for a few years now, and that is when my game really took a turn for the better. Ever since I put the X2 in my bag, I have been playing some of the best golf of my career. I noticed an instant jump in ball speed on full swings, I am able to flight it in my desired window or anyway that I need to, it spins around the green more than any ball I’ve ever played, and it has the best feel out of any ball I’ve played in my career. I can’t wait to show what the X2 can do at the professional level and see how much hardware it can collect!
